AMSTERDAM (part 2)

Segundo día / Second day

El segundo día nos levantamos bien temprano para ir a la casa-museo de Ana Frank. Las fotos están prohibidas así que solo os puedo decir que en el interior se puede acceder a 'La casa de atrás', donde se encuentran las habitaciones vacías al lado de las imágenes y maquetas que nos muestra cómo era la vida clandestina de las ocho personas que vivieron allí durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial. De la familia Frank (compuesta por Otto, Edith, Margot y Anne) solo sobrevivió el padre, quien tras descubrir el diario de la hija, lo publicó como testimonio. La familia van Pels y Fritz Pfeffer también morirían en los campos de concentración.

The second day we woke up very early and we went to The Anne Frank house. The pictures are forbiden so I can just tell you that inside you can access to the hidding place, where you can be in the empty rooms with pictures and the models that shown how was the inside of the hause in which eight people were living during the Second World War. From the Frank's family (composed by Otto, Edith, Margot and Anne) the father, Otto, was the only one who survived. The rest died in concentration camps.

Tras la visita nos dirigimos hacia el centro para encontrarnos con el resto del grupo, paseando nos encontramos una calle con mucho encanto y enredaderas. Comemos una hamburguesa en un pequeño restaurante situado en esa misma calle.

After the museum we go to the center of the city. We find a charming street with climbing plants and we decide to eat a hamburger in a small restaurant in this same street.

Nos encontramos con los demás y seguimos explorando y haciendo fotos. Yo soy la fotógrafa del viaje y Ámsterdam es una ciudad demasiado bonita para no ser fotografiada; los canales, las fachadas torcidas de los edificios, las bicicletas por todas partes. Ulrike nos cuenta que las fachadas de los edificios están inclinadas para poder elevar y tirar mobiliario sin dañar la fachada.

Llegamos a nuestra siguiente parada: el Blommenmarkt o mercado de las flores. Todo está lleno de tulipanes. Tulipanes de todos los tamaños, de madera, semillas, etc. 

We meet the rest of the group and then we continue exploring and taking pictures. I am the photographer of this trip and Amsterdam is such a beautiful city; the canals, the buildings, the bycicles everywhere... Ulrike told us that the front of the buildings are leaned in order to move up and down the furniture without damage the building.

We arrive to the Blommenmarkt or flower market. Everything is full with tulipans of every colour, wooden tulipans, seeds...

De ahí pasamos al puente de los quince puentes, porque son los puentes que se pueden observar desde este. Pero el día estaba muy gris y no se veían muchos, la verdad.

The next stop was the bridge of the fifteen bridges, because you can see that number that much bridges from it. But the day was very grey and we couln't see that many.

Otra cosa que nos encontramos mucho fue los 'Coffee shops', sitios donde se puede comprar y consumir marihuana de forma legal. En algunas de las calles con muchos de estos negocios podías oler sin ni siquiera entrar dentro del local.

Another thing that we saw a lot was the 'Coffee shops', places where you can buy and smoke marijuana legally. You could really smell in some streets...

Al final de la calle acabamos en una plaza con una estatua de Rembrandt y no se nos ocurre otra cosa que hacer el mannequin challenge. 

At the end of the street we arrive to a square with a sculpture of Rembrandt and we have the idea to do the mannequin challenge. Don't believe me just watch...

Caminamos un poco por el distrito rojo y enseguida volvemos al hostal para recoger las cosas y ir a coger el bus a volver. Ha sido un viaje genial y estoy muy contenta de haber compartido la experiencia con ellos.

We walked a little bit in the red district and after we came back to the hostel to pick up our bags and go to take the bus to come back. It has been an amazing trip, I'm so glad to have shared it with this gang.
